Birds > Anseriformes > Pink-footed goose Anser brachyrhynchus

info

I attempted to photograph pink-footed geese  twice. Unfortunately they were so skittish and kept such a large distance that I was unable to take more shots than the ones presented here. I have no idea why, but I think it’s the only such a skittish bird species in Iceland. It is estimated that its population in Iceland is about 40-50 thousand couples. The pink-footed goose reaches 3.3 kilograms in weight, and its wingspan is up to 1.7 meters. Well, yet again the start-up gallery of a species begins with one documentary photo.
Last minute news -06/2018 Iceland
How different it was this time, actually I could watch a pink-footed goose a few times during my second stay in Iceland. During my first visit to this country it seemed to me that it was quite a rare species in Iceland. This time I saw many flocks with numerous offspring. The scenario was always the same. Just from the car, while driving, it was possible to observe flocks of geese near rivers with a stony flat bank. I took some of the photos from the car, but to take some of them I had to approach quietly to the flock of geese with the young. In the latter case the geese calmly headed towards the bank of the rushing river. If they assessed that the distance was too small, they would enter the river and its fast flow would take them out of reach of the camera lens. Another one-photo gallery has been replaced with a set of interesting photos.
