In search of the pectoral sandpiper on a water tank in Grzybno, I was able to photograph a common greenshank. Unfortunately the common greenshank was quite timid, so I created only documentary pictures. But it has been worse with new galleries and I have to start with something when building a new gallery. The common greenshank can be seen in Poland only when migrating and I hope there will be a chance to improve the presented pictures. The weight of a common greensank is about 250 gram, and the wingspan is not greater than 70 cm.
Last minute news – 08/2015
Having taken the first documentary pictures of the common greenshank, I knew that I would have to come back to that place to take pictures better than the documentary ones. The common greenshanks appears in Poland only when migrating to the breeding areas and the wintering places. So I didn’t have a lot of time. I took the first pictures ad hock, so they had only documentary value. This time I took pictures of a better quality. Of course I didn’t come close but took the pictures from a solid shelter picked up as  the most likely place for a successful session. Well, it worked. The common greenshanks preyed a few meters in front of my lens. You could hear them only sporadically but with a long recording, after removing the sounds of civilization, I managed to separate the sounds the of common greenshank. Finally everything was perfect. The lights, the birds, the recording of the birds. I did a complete gallery of the common greenshanks, which allows me to place the greenshank in the news part of my gallery.
Last minute news – 09/2018
Three years after my last photographing of greenshanks, there was an opportunity to take its pictures at the Polish seaside. The common greenshank was not skittish, approached the lens and several photos were taken, which introduced variety in my gallery of this species.
Last minute news-09/2021
After the last meeting with the Common greenshank, a few new photos were created and added to the gallery. Interestingly, it would catch fish that were too big to be swallowed whole and just put them back into the water.
Last minute news-09/2022
Common Greenshanks were the least timid among all the birds appearing this time in front of the shelter. They sometimes came so close to three or four meters that the only thing left was to observe them, because it was no longer possible to take pictures. The resulting photos had to add to the existing gallery of this species.
