info

There are a few reasons to be satisfied that the Eurasian beaver finally appears in my gallery. The first reason is that it is a subsequent new species of mammal belonging to the Polish fauna.  The second reason is that it is the biggest Polish rodent. The third is the fact, that it is the only animal in the world able to shape the landscape. And the fourth reason is that the beaver belongs to animals which lead nocturnal life, so taking photos during the day, as in the case of the  European badger, is not an easy matter. But what are friendly, well informed lovers of nature for? Robert, I send my greetings and thanks for your invitation. To find such a  place one have to spend a lot of time in the area or just to be lucky. There is a picturesque bend of the Warta river in Poznań (Poland), where beavers a little used to anglers, allow us to observe and photograph them directly, without camouflage. A big surprise was to see two beavers already on the way to our destination place when at 4:30 am, as we were walking in semidarkness, we passed the first two beavers. They were totally indifferent to our presence, just as they  were  during a 2-hour photo session. Unfortunately, the first hour with the morning fog ended up with documentary pictures only. The second hour resulted in better pictures, though it was very cloudy and it was difficult to achieve good quality of photos. Altogether, only two adult and two young beavers appeared. We repeated the same scenario with the same animal behaviour and the same weather conditions three times. Every time at about 6:30 am the beavers went to sleep and  our photo shooting session was over.
