During the stay in South Africa I managed to photograph three species of plovers: the white-fronted plover, the Kittlitz's plover and the three-banded plover. This text is common to these three species. The white-fronted plover was photographed by the sea, or rather by the Indian Ocean. Taking photos of this bird was like shooting pictures of a common ringed plover on the Baltic Sea. Moving slowly it was possible to gradually reduce the distance from the bird. There were only a few small plovers, several sanderlings and a small flock of terns on the long and wide beach. The Kittlitz's plovers were accompanied by water thick-knees, white-faced whistling-ducks and crocodiles on the dam reservoir. With a three-banded plover there were two encounters over small lakes. The newly captured species have increased my collection of plovers on my site to 9. I was fortunate taking photos of plovers in South Africa and it made me create the galleries that are really good. As it is often the case with the representatives of the Charadriiformes order, including the plovers, I am sure to keep going back to these galleries...
