Well, one must be happy with what he/she managed to photograph. The pictures presented here are photographs of a young specimen of the Pallas’s sea eagle, which is a pity, as I think adult birds are much more beautiful and it is easy to spot differences between the Pallas’s sea eagle and our white-tailed eagle. There’s quite a peculiar story related to taking these pictures. When I was choosing a place for the morning photography session for the next day, I saw a Pallas’s sea eagle sitting down at several hundred meter’s distance from us. As I was approaching it slowly, I managed to shorten the distance to the bird and take photos, also during its several attempts of fishing, unfortunately from a much longer distance. But the first pictures were taken. On the next day, a solid bait spot, camouflage, a dozen or so hours of waiting and… nothing. The eagle wouldn’t show up. Only a harrier and Mongolian herring gulls appeared. If it hadn’t been for that lucky coincidence, we would have returned from Mongolia without pictures of this bird. Although it showed up in our country most probably only once, it belongs to the flora of Poland and as such it found its place on our list of birds, which we were interested in during our expedition.
