Birds > Falconiformes > Eurasian hobby Falco subbuteo

info

We stopped at a village and after getting off the car we could hear quite distinctive squeak. Two eurasian hobbies circled above our heads. They were a couple. The difficulty was to obtain clear images. They were moving so quickly,  and their silhouettes were so petite that  this task became as difficult as shooting swallows in flight. Fortunately, there were moments when they approached flying with the smooth easy flight and I managed to take a few photos. The pictures are more of a documentary value, but they are the first pictures of this bird I took. Eurasian hobbies weigh less than 350 grams and the females are bigger than males. Their wingspan is about 80 cetimeters.

Well, Eurasian hobbies did not allow me to take better photos. The distance which they accepted was always too long to take better photos. Nevertheless, as a complement to some documentary photos of the Eurasian hobby in flight, I’m uploading a few static pictures of the bird sitting on a tree branch or a stone.

This is my first observation of a Euroasian Hobby in Poland, so I need to note it in the information and add a few photos to my gallery. Of course, all the photos in the background of the sky, because the birds didn’t sit nearby for a moment. A few photos were added to the gallery of Euroasian Hobby, which is quite a specific, "flying" gallery on my website. In the case of this species it will be difficult to find a more interesting shot, but we will see in the future...
