Alphabetical list

There are several dozen (about one hundred) species of snakes in Sri Lanka, including seven poisonous. Two of them are deadly dangerous. The photos of Sri Lankan pit viper were taken less than two meters from the path frequently walked through by tourists. Well, a dozen or so meters from the children playing on the lawn. Snakes are not a threat in Sri Lanka anyway and it is difficult to spot them, find them. For two weeks in Sri Lanka we saw, for a short while, three species of snakes including one poisonous.

Although I managed to capture many species of hummingbirds, you can find there one description of all 22 species photographed in Costa Rica together. This time my expedition took longer and the light was better, I had therefore an opportunity to take many dynamic pictures. It is interesting that driving around Costa Rica after traveling several kilometers there were species of hummingbirds completely different from those we could observe earlier.

As with the bearded vulture and the steppe eagle also this bird did not landed in front of the lookout point. Steppe buzzards circled above the lookout and I managed to take the first pictures of this bird. Then during the journey to the place of shooting egyptian vulture we could watch this bird cycling high in the sky. It was certainly a rarity and in the area of our shooting it occurred considerably less often than long-legged buzzard. In size it is very similar to our buzzard, occurring in Western Europe.

Unfortunately, steppe eagle appeared only once in front of the camera, moreover far away and high above our heads. If Kerem had not brought my attention to it I would not have photographed this bird at all. In terms of the size and silhouette it looked just the same like the imperial eagle, only the underside of the wings showed the difference. I already had a large number of photos of imperial eagle and shooting the bird from such a distance, with the sky in the background was no longer interesting to me.

In Mongolia we encountered only one little snake on the Gobi Desert. It was very skittish and after a few photos it hid somewhere under a bush and disappeared from our eyes. It was about one meter long, although some specimens are said to reach 1.5 meters.
