I wish the Common Whitethroat co-operated better than the Common Grasshopper Warbler and the European Stonechat on the May morning of 2014. It kept at a distance and the gallery, as a result, is not as impressive as the galleries of the other two species. Still, it is a new species in my gallery and it will be expanded in the future. The Common Whitethroats have the wingspan of some 22 centimeters and the weight of about a dozen grams.

When I was shooting the common rosefinch, every now and then representatives of different species appeared in the bushes, including a common whitethroat. A modest gallery of the common whitethroat has been enriched with new pictures.

It was worth holding the stare of drivers going down a country road and wondering at the sight of a tent-hides put up just by the road. A whitethroat liked the flowering apple tree and several bushes growing along the road. It was impossible not to notice the bird, or actually not to hear it, because its singing resounded over the surrounding area. I stopped the car, set up the tent and took the first photos. From time to time the session was interrupted by passing cars, which, despite reducing the speed, brought up into the air large amounts of dust near the apple tree. The whitethroat flew away for a moment to another bush, and was back after a while. Unfortunately, it rarely sat on the flowers of rape that grew by the apple tree. Such photos would introduce diversity in the new gallery. Yes, I mean it really new, as the old photos no longer can be found. Previous images might be called documentary but nothing more. Well, such a change in the gallery is highly commendable. It was worth to sit with the whitethroat those few hours to have in result such a change in images, but also for the sound of the bird, whose my own record I was able to make. It was no problem there, the bird was singing all the time during my photo-session...
