Not so long ago I was in the Tatra Mountains, with the intention of photographing the ring ouzel, finally. I failed to. In Norway during a cruise on the fjords I was photographing black guillemots and luckily on the shore I noticed a small silhouette of the bird, which turned out to be the ring ouzel. Only when I watched my photos on a computer screen have I found out about it. Pictures are of a documentary value but unluckily there were no more opportunities to watch this bird. I hope that this will change in the nearest future and these two documentary images will be replaced by another ones that would show the charm of this very skittish bird. The ring ouzel weight is about 100-140 grams and its wingspan is less than 40 centimeters.

Finally, after four years I encountered the ring ouzel a second time. Just as random and unplanned contact as the first one, but how much more fruitful. A few good photos of these beautiful birds were taken at last and I recorded their voices as well. Thanks to Kalina and Jacek for sharing with me the information on the place I could find them. The birds occurred at the foothills of Śnieżka summit, on Czech side. There were several of them and unfortunately they were quite skittish. Interestingly, it was possible to slowly reduce the distance to the birds feeding in the grass in open space and to take the pictures presented. After they rose into the air, they almost always sat in such a thicket that it was difficult to take a picture. It took me a few hours but then a one-photo gallery has been changed beyond recognition, and with the recording of ring ouzel voices.
