It was a beautiful May morning (2014). Not only was the weather beautiful, but also the birds were posing in front of the camera. Since they represented three distinct species, they started three new galleries on my website.  The Common Whitethroat, The Common Grasshopper Warbler and the European Stonechat. These three species inhabit the same area. Now and again, it was possible to see the Red-backed Shrike. It was a lot easier to take photos of The European Stonechat than record its voice. It was the other way round with the Common Grasshopper Warbler. The weight of the European Stonechat is 16 grams, which means it is lighter than the Sparrow. Its wingspan is about 20 centimeters.

When I was on my way back from hides after shooting the lesser spotted eagle I was taking photos out of my car of European stonechats  which were sitting on border posts in pastures. Particularly important are the images of females, because so far in the gallery there was only one image of the female  of this bird. We have a reconstruction of the gallery.

I have added some new pictures taken in Spain so the gallery has been reconstructed.
