There is quite an interesting and unique place for birdwatching on Malta. It is an artificial water reservoir of irregular shape with a few islets and green vegetation growing around it. It is fenced and inaccessible for hunters and passers-by. It has an observatory and educational function. It is literally hammered into the urbanized Maltese reality, so close, that it was impossible to record the sounds of birds due to the noise of a nearby road.  However, among some small artificially planted trees it was quite easy to photograph wood warblers from a comfortable, spacious hide. A few pictures initiating a gallery of this species were taken. A wood warbler’s wingspan reaches less than 20 cm, with a weight of about 10 grams. It is not a rare bird in Poland so the chances for some more encounters with this bird and expansion of this gallery are huge.

The gallery was founded not so long ago and now we have such changes. There are many photos significantly changing the existing exhibition, and moreover I made the bird sound recording. I could hear two types of sounds. The first beautiful, reviving the forest. The second quieter, wistful, perhaps calling other warblers. The gallery was reconstructed.

Finally, after five years, it was time to devote some attention to the Wood warbler and take some photos to the incomplete gallery so far. The previous one, despite the addition of new and interesting photos from very good, becomes a gallery with a good status. My quality criteria are changing. Unfortunately, despite the sunny weather, there was no light at the bottom of the forest. High ISO has affected the quality of the photos. The bird, despite the fact that it is common in Poland, because of its environment, as you can see, it is not easy to take pictures that give it a very good status. Well, i will probably have to try it more than once to change it, hopefully not in 5 years ...

I did not have to wait as long as 5 years for further changes in the gallery of the wood warbler. This time, the wood warbler in the forest of European nightjar gave me better pictures and qualified the gallery to a very good category.
