Chinstrap penguin was the first which I encountered during my expedition to Antarctica. A couple of penguins took a rest on the drifting ice. All the trip looked like that. There were some opportunities to watch the individuals or a small colony of penguins, but I could not see the whole chinstrap penguin rookery. For these reasons this gallery does not have the sound recordings, but by the images of the beautiful Antarctic environment it also makes an interesting variety and has its unique charm. Pink background or more specifically the surface area in case of the two penguin colonies (gentoo penguins and adelie penguins) is in fact "the by-product" of the bird colonies to provide quite intense and unpleasant senses of smell. The chinstrap penguin gallery looks extremely Antarctic and maybe it was even better that it happened like that and that the meetings had gone this way. The chinstrap penguin weighs about 6 kilograms, with a height of less than 70 centimeters.
