Let's hope it will not last long that these few pictures of the hazel goose which initiate the gallery of this species will be the only photos of this beautiful bird on my website. It was unforgettable experience spending time in the environment of its habitat. Beautiful spruce forests, often swampy, with the bottom like a soft green "carpet", all that brought me a lot of joy and moments to come back to. Absolutely amazing surroundings. There were a couple of hazel grouses but they were flying quite high in the treetops and unfortunately the vegetation was so dense that it was difficult to take pictures. Only once I managed to take a picture focused well, but from a distance that was quite great and it was against the light. So far the few documentary photos make this gallery, which I hope will definitely change in the spring and will be presenting the charm of this bird thoroughly. I would like to express my thanks to Wojtek and Marek for their help in finding the bird, but especially to Julian. Julian, without you the hazel grouse would still be on a long list of birds that I could not see in their natural environment. I hope it was not our last meeting, because here in Poland there are less and less such beautiful places with the flora and fauna like that, and these views of our home landscape have to be captured, particularly because may go away forever into oblivion as a result of an expansion of the man. Even though a hazel grouse is a pretty rare bird, and it is not easy to come across, it is still hunted. Its weight can reach half a kilogram, and its wingspan is up to 60 centimeters.

I have added one picture of the hazel grouse taken in the area of Białowieża. Only one, so far the best of my photos of this bird, but it does not mean it is a good picture. In the case of such a beautiful bird, in such a beautiful forest, so poor gallery – there is still a lot to do with hazel’s gallery...

Finally, after three years it happened to me that I had an opportunity to observe a hazel grouse once again. Unfortunately weather was not good. On rainy windy days hazel grouses are not active at all, just like Eurasian pygmy owls. Happily, an hour before sunset the wind stopped, rain stopped and the sun came up, and the hazel grouse was waiting for it. My first non-documentary photos of the bird were taken, and the previous ones were removed from the gallery. It was also possible to record the voice of the bird. Unfortunately, while recording the wind blew droplets of water which severely disturbed the recording. After all, the sound should be added as galleries with bird voices are more interesting and complete in presenting the species. This is not a very good gallery yet, because the hazel grouse almost always sat too high and the bird was often hidden behind a twig. However such radical changes as the introduction of several new, more interesting photos, voice recording and thus getting rid of the documentary content of the gallery must be noted in the news.
