Ring ouzel
Passerine

Not so long ago I was in the Tatra Mountains, with the intention of photographing the ring ouzel, finally. I failed to. In Norway during a cruise on the fjords I was photographing black guillemots and luckily on the shore I noticed a small silhouette of the bird, which turned out to be the ring ouzel. Only when  I watched my photos on a computer screen have I found out about it. Pictures are of a documentary value but unluckily there were no more opportunities to watch this bird.

Ringed teal
Anseriformes

The ringed teal was photographed in a park in Buenos Aires. I managed to capture both a male and a female, but unfortunately there weren’t more opportunities to take more interesting pictures. It’s a pity as it’s a beautiful bird. Breeders acknowledge its beauty and they breed this species in artificial conditions. They are an adornment of ponds and puddles in Europe as well, although some of them are fugitives from inbreeding. They are very much like Mandarin ducks and Carolina ducks in the Warsaw Łazienki.

River plover
Charadriiformes

I will never forget my first encounter with a River Plover. I have left my car by the side of the road, I am all hung with the gear (masking net, tripod, lense, chair) as I still have got couple of hundred meters to my spot – I am planning on photographing a Corn Crake - when suddenly I heard strange noises. I look at the ground within couple of meters from me, nothing, silence. I am on my way and I hear the squealing again. I stop packing and again look through faintly grassy field. Silence.

River warbler
Passerine

Oh, it was not easy with the river warbler. It would always hide in bushes and more often we could hear it than see it. Patience paid off this time again. Luckily the river warbler was quite fidgety and there were moments when for a while I could see the whole silhouette of the bird. All the rest depended on the reflexes and the swiftness of the work of the autofocus. As for the first encounter with this species there is a reason for satisfaction, because not only did I manage to take a few interesting shots of the river warbler, I also recorded its sound.

Roadside hawk
Accipitriformes

Another gallery from a single encounter with a new species has been created. A roadside hawk sat down for a while on a tree branch in a forest near the hotel in Iguazu.  It was sitting so high on a tree but so peacefully that people who appeared nearby every now and then did not disturbed it. I had time to set a converter and take a few close-ups of the bird. The bird presented here is a young specimen. Roadside hawks occur in Latin and South America, but only throughout its northern and central parts down to northern Argentina.
