Jack Snipe – at last, the first photographs of this species have made it onto my website!.This is one of those species whose discovery requires not only luck, but also patience and the right circumstances. The Jack Snipe is an exceptionally elusive bird, difficult to observe and even more challenging to photograph. Its tiny size – with a body weight usually not exceeding 100 grams – combined with the habitat it frequents, allows it to remain almost unnoticed, even by experienced birdwatchers. In Poland, the Jack Snipe occurs during migration. For years, an encounter with this species, let alone the opportunity to photograph it, remained a distant prospect. It was difficult to predict when such an opportunity might arise – until October 2026. That was when I had the good fortune to meet Mr Jurek, whose kindness and willingness to help made my encounter with Jack Snipes possible. Mr Jurek gets to observe these birds almost every year during their autumn migration. Thanks to his knowledge and assistance, I was able to create this photographic gallery, which I hope will mark the beginning of a dedicated collection featuring this remarkable species on my website. Mr Jurek, my heartfelt thanks for your kindness, your time, and your invaluable help in making my very first photographic session with the Jack Snipe possible! ( https://ptaki-rogozno.eu/category/news/ ). Encounters like this remind us how much our passion depends not only on patience and luck, but also on people who are willing to share their knowledge and experience so generously. With this addition, the Jack Snipe becomes the 415th species recorded in the avifauna of Poland to be featured in photographs on my website. 415/475 – as of October 2026.
