info
A beautiful duck, usually seen in pairs. There is a clear sexual dimorphism. Following the example of medieval nomenclature, the female has a white plumage of the head. And why is it the model of the Middle Ages, because women were said to be white-headed. The female has a snow-white head. The plumage of the male is colorful but not so bright. The Paradise Shelduck can weigh up to 2 kilograms. I saw them in quite large flocks, that could be certainly counted in dozens, if not more. Often, especially in the morning, they wandered in pairs the pastures surrounded by masked lapwings. Another species endemic to New Zealand goes to my gallery.
