info

So, as it was written in information about the turtle dove, the stock dove appeared for a while and  quite far away. I managed to take  several documentary pictures, additionally against the sky. In one word, the worst possible scenario for taking  pictures. The necessary minimum was taken to have a photo record of a new spices on tomkalfoto.pl. But as it happens in nature photography, we need something to start with.  Some documentary galleries were created, in others you can see a significant progress in the quality of presented pictures. The weight of the stock dove is about 300 grams, and the wingspan is about 65 centimeters.

Well, some documentary photos has been exchanged with another documentary. Driving slowly down a country road about 6 in the morning I saw to the right a couple of pigeons suddenly take their wings off the ground when feeding in the field. Quite strange but a dozen meters away I could watch a similar situation. I found out that these were not pigeons, but two pairs of stock doves. The birds were very skittish. I set up the converter 2X in the hope that there will be another opportunity to see these birds. And I was right. The third pair of stock doves preyed in the field at quite a considerable distance. I managed to take a few photos, but poor quality. The pictures presented in the gallery now are still better than before, as these have not the sky in the background. What is important now I know the place where to come back to take better pictures. Provided that the doves do not change their feeding sites, and I can find free time...

Almost two days in a bird “predator” hide, in spartan conditions did not result in taking one picture of a predatory bird. I’m not going to list all these beautiful and rare species which had been expected to come. It happens in nature photography, especially when the food is abundant. As sort of consolation, I guess, stock doves appeared. The distance required using a converter, and poor light did not allow me to take better photos, but nevertheless, those which I took were better than the previous ones.  I’ve introduced changes in the gallery.

This is the end of documentary pictures of stock doves on my website. Photographing stock doves does not belong to easiest tasks, as the birds are very secretive. I had tried several times but it always ended in documentary pictures. However, the right time has come and I found myself in the right place so that I managed to exchange the former documents for much better quality dynamic photos of this dove in flight. The opportunity came while I was awaiting bears and wolves almost all day long. Well, the area near the hide did not always witness some action. Sometimes there were only stock doves, common wood pigeons and ravens. Every once in a while, stock doves arrived in small flocks. They were very anxious and timorous. They would sit on the ground in order to suddenly fly up in the air under any possible pretense, fly a circle or two over the meadow and sit down on the ground again. This was enough, after dozens of trials, to take some better photos of stock doves, such dynamic photos, which I like the most. The previous pictures got into the archive, the gallery has been remodeled and achieved a status of a 4-star and interesting gallery. Such changes must be noticed and presented in the news section.
