I had to go to New Zealand to shoot the Dunnock, which is not common species in Poland, but occurs there and it is possible to photograph it. In Poland I failed so far, only a few images taken in New Zealand made the gallery of this bird start up. It is slightly smaller than a sparrow, its weight is about 20 grams, with a wingspan of a little more than 22 centimeters. It was re-introduced into New Zealand in 1860. I was able to take its photos during a morning photo session of the Weka.

Finally, documentary photos of the dunnock fall into oblivion. This time I was lucky while in Ireland, where in a small village, a few meters from the main square, there was a small plot covered with trees and bushes. Approaching slowly the bushes I scared away 4 common wood-pigeons, but fortunately dunnocks were less timid, and even disregarded my presence. Not too far away they were jumping from branch to branch. The first images were taken. Unfortunately, a several-minutes photo session was interrupted by rain. But it was enough to create a gallery with a much better quality content than previous three poor-quality images. I am really happy with such transformations and they must be noted in the news.

While I was taking photos of Siberian accentor, European robins, bramblings, meadow pipits and dunnocks were showing in front of my camera now and then. Here in Poland it was my first encounter with Siberian accentor, and it was so close. It happened that the distance between us and the birds was one or two meters and we had to wait until the birds move farther away from us to be able to take pictures (the lens to adjust sharpness needs minimum 4.5 meters). I took several interesting photos that introduced variety in the gallery and replaced some of the old images.

Another encounter with the dunnock took place in Spain. Within a few hours I had spent in the lookout point, new species of birds appeared every now and then. They couldn’t be watched for long, but we had the opportunity to observe different species every day, and the dunnock among them. It's hard to imagine what is happening there in summer, when the temperature is over 30 degrees...

My second encounter with the dunnock in Spain. The bird was very skittish and it appeared only for short whiles by the drinker. More often, it sat in the bushes several meters away from the water and observed the surroundings.
