Birds > Passerine > Eurasian Reed Warbler Acrocephalus scirpaceus

info

Waiting for a Water Rail, ended up with taking a few photos of Eurasian Reed Warbler. A Eurasian Reed Warbler is small-sized, water, migratory birds. They exist only in reed, where they build their nests and lay their eggs. They weigh dozen grams, with a wingspan of no more than 20 centimeters. It happens that Great Reed Warblers and Eurasian Reed Warblers are used as hosts for cuckoo’s nestlings. Such motherhood is not an easy task for them. With a weight of several grams of body mass Warblers weight Reed, they have to feed the fast-growing cuckoo’s nestling, which can weigh 100 grams and is always hungry – a nursing burnout for parents.

I added some pictures of Eurasian Reed Warbler, which brought diversity to the incomplete gallery of this bird spices. These pictures were taken, when I was shooting the Savi's Warbler.

I have found some time for improving the gallery of the Eurasian reed warbler at last. This commonly occurring in Poland bird so far has had a very modest, documentary gallery on my website. This time in several attempts I took pictures which reflect the environment and the charm of this bird. Eurasian reed warblers are always seen at the lower part of reed fields, and great reed warblers, at its upper part. It often happened that reeds would enter the frame and cover the bird, disqualifying many potentially interesting photos. A little patience, however, and finally I had some material to choose from to remodel the gallery. During this photography session I recorded the voice of the Eurasian reed warbler. Such a qualitative change in the gallery must be noted in the news section.
