I don’t know whether I finally managed to capture the beautiful tail of the New Zealand Fantail, which is the bird’s attribute or distinguishing feature, but the bird was very difficult to observe and even more difficult to photograph. It is 16 centimeters long, and half of its length is its decorative tail. When I was on the southern island, in the woods which looked very much like Jurassic park with its tree-ferns and other plants that made it impossible to move through the forest, I photographed the New Zealand Fantail. It was the only bird that I noticed in this forest. It was quite shocking as at first glance there was this rich greenery and a great variety of plants but among it, it was difficult to observe anything. Things were a bit different in Australia. There was a little less greenery, the forest was not so thick but it was literally buzzing with various birds’ sounds. The New Zealand Fantail occurs also in Australia, but I didn’t manage to observe it there.
