info

This is a difficult challenge for a photographer. Red foxes have very keen senses (i.e. smell, sight and hearing). I must add that foxes like to hunt in the evenings or early in the mornings, so most often during bad lighting conditions. Fortunately, when I was at the White-tailed Eagle look-out I had a chance to observe a red fox traversing the region, searching for some rodents. What amazes me is its hunting effectiveness. Each hunt ended up with catching prey. Unfortunately its innate caution didn’t allow me to stay around it without being noticed. Taking photos from several dozen meters only attracted its attention. He just looked towards me and then fled. Even though many hunters, while watching my gallery, have different opinions, these taken photos make me feel satisfied. I have uploaded a few photos taken while I was awaiting red deer in rut. Unfortunately the fox took a 100-meter walk along the edge of the forest and that’s how my contact with the fox ended.

I uploaded a few photographs of a fox, which were taken from a hide that had been supposed to be used for waders. A low water level made the animal come to a dry edge of the forest. Quite funnily, I just decided to straighten up and I took a look at the hole at the hide entrance. That is where I saw it. A quick twist to take the 300mm off the tripod and here are the pictures I managed to take.

While waiting in the hide  for the golden eagle, northern goshawk and white-tailed eagle to appear I took some interesting photos of fox, which were the pretext for the reconstruction of its gallery on my website. There we have changes in terms of image quality, but also in terms of their size adapted to the new version of the page. The fox gallery is the first among mammals that has been reconstructed. The birds’ galleries assessed as very good, and part of those marked as good ones, have been already rebuilt. So about 700 galleries remains to be changed to achieve all objectives according to assumptions that had been made for the reconstruction. All the work will take probably a year or so. And there are still waiting as urgent matters such galleries as of white-tailed eagle, buzzard, great spotted woodpecker, middle spotted woodpecker and grey-headed woodpecker…

I have added some pictures of the fox, which was emerging from time to time while I was photographing vultures and bearded vultures in Spain. The fox made  slalom route among the birds and after searching for some "treat" it disappeared for a moment in the nearby forest. The fox repeated it many times, so its storage room for the worse times is probably full. Those more interesting pictures were taken in the late afternoon when it stayed alone on the scene.
