Quito is the capital of Ecuador, and its population is similar to the capital of Poland. This is where the similarities, jokingly, end. Certainly, a great feature of the capital of Ecuador is the height at which the city stretches. Quito is located at 2,700-2,850 meters above sea level. It is in first place in the world in this respect. La Paz, the seat of the Bolivian government, lies over 3,700 meters above sea level, but the official capital is Sucre (2,790 meters above sea level). The city makes a great, positive impression. I am writing about my impressions after visiting the old town in Quito. It is clean, well-kept with a large number of old colonial-style buildings. Attention is drawn to the large number of churches that are perfectly preserved, their interiors richly gilded and decorated with sculptures and paintings. Despite the entrance fee to some of them, unfortunately you cannot take photos, but there is a lot to photograph - I assure you. Christian accents can be seen on every street and in the entire neighborhood. The most powerful church in Quito is the Metropolitan Cathedral from the 16th century. It is open to tourists, you can take photos there and climb the church towers from where you can admire the panorama of the city. It is not as richly decorated with carvings and gilding as other churches, but it is huge. The cathedral is very impressive and I decided to dedicate an independent gallery to it.
