In Istanbul, Turkey, is an invasive species. Its natural habitats are found in the central Africa and in India. It is quite interesting that it often spent time seated high in trees in the places crowded by tourists. I have never decided to keep the Rose-ringed Parakeet at home, because it is inclined to damaging aviary and is rather noisy. It is not possible to keep in an outdoor aviary, because it will not survive the frost in the winter. My experiences in raising birds is limited to Australian and Asian parrots, but it doesn’t include the African birds (read may text about Zebra Finch). Still, another representative of the Psittacide (parrots) family. The Rose-ringed Parakeet weighs up to 170 gram and its wingspan is almost half a metre.

Just like with the lesser short-toed lark, I could see the rose-ringed parakeet only once and for a while. But as my collection of photos of this bird is modest and uninteresting, then these two pictures bring some variety. I was able to photograph it during the session with the monk parakeets.

The story of adding another photo to the gallery of this species on my site is similar to the one of taking pictures in Turkey. I heard the voice of rose-ringed parakeet in a park in Athens. After a while, I managed to locate it and take another documentary pictures.
