Rufous-throated Honeyeater

It took me a lot of time trying to find out something more about this bird. It seems to be uncommon indeed seeing that there are hardly any information. The Rufous-throated Honeyeater occurs in Australia and New Guinea. It is a really tiny bird. The presented pictures were taken during one shooting.

Galliformes

It does not happen often that photos of  chickenlike birds (Galliformes)  are being added to the gallery on my website. My trip to Thailand resulted in two new species: the Hume's pheasant and the rufous-throated partridge. Both galleries are of satisfactory quality so I have reason to be satisfied. The rufous-throated partridges were quietly foraging on the forest undergrowth allowing me to take the presented images. The only pity is that, as usually when shooting in a dense forest, there the daylight was scarce.

I had to write about it, it brought me many emotions. We got up two hours before sunrise to get to the mountains before dawn, where we were supposed to photograph, among others Eastern chat-tanager - very rare endemic, active at sunrise. We arrived when it was still dark, the driver turned off the engine and there was complete silence in which you could hear a beautiful singing every few dozen meters Rufous-throated Solitaires. My recording of their songs, however, probably does not fully reflect this. The quality of the sound is similar to the quality of the photos.

Rüppell's Vulture
Accipitriformes

It would be a fact that we always encountered a rueppell's griffon, a lappet-faced vulture and an African white-backed vulture together. However, the most numerous were African white-backed vultures. They were the first at the carrion and instantly started the meal. But as they had already done so, the rueppell's griffon were almost immediately appearing at the meal. They explained quite quickly and effectively to African vultures that it was their turn now. Sometimes they fed together. All this was watched by the Arabian vulture.
