The Sahara dessert, the largest desert in the world, finally has a gallery on my website. The Sahara is only slightly smaller than Europe and almost 29 times larger than Poland! Contrary to popular belief, the Sahara is not just an area of sandy dunes. Such an image is always presented to us when we are shown photographs of the Sahara. However, only a small part of it is as sandy as shown in the media, without plants with wind-blown sand. The rest is stony or gravelly terrain with sparse vegetation.

Saker falcon
Falconiformes
It’s a pity that I didn’t manage to take better photos of saker falcons in Mongolia. A few documentary pictures constitute a gallery of this species on my website. In the steppe we saw places prepared for saker falcons to nest. A single post about 2 meters high, on top of which there was a metal container with a large side hole attached. In several such places, as well as on tripods of powerlines we saw saker falcons. Most often there were three young specimens in a nest. Unfortunately these documentary pictures are all I managed to take. Dostateczne |

Sand Martin
Passerine
Returning from unsuccessful outdoor session (spotter crake), I stopped for a moment at the power line, on which sat a lot of Swallows. Among them there was the Sand Martin, which I had not photographed. Unfortunately, the lack of light and the overwhelming drizzle did not allow me to perform better pictures. Again, another start gallery of the new species is initiated with a number of documentary photographs. The weight of these birds is a few grams and a wingspan is less than 30 cm. Dobre |
Sand Monitor
Reptiles
When I was photographing birds, I was taken aback by something moving in the grass. There was a sound, caused by the mysterious animal’s movement, that made me realise that something large was approaching. Ultimately, it turned out to be Varanus Gouldi. It does not bear any resemblance to any of the European lizards. It measures up to 1.5 metre and weighs up to 4 kilograms. It inhabits the whole Australia. It is a predator and is active during the daily hours. The species is characterised by an interesting reproduction cycle. Dobre |
Sanderling
Charadriiformes
Encouraged by the recent photographic "achievements" in Świnoujście, less than two weeks later I decided to try my luck in the Gulf of Puck. I have made a few phone calls to friendly people to locate the best place (my thanks to Mr. Bogdan), and another attempt was made to take photos of the species which, if you would like to shoot in a place where they breed, you should organize a real expedition around the North Pole. I went for my first walk along the seaside and despite walkers I could see a heavy birds’ traffic on the beach. Moje ulubione, Bardzo dobre |
