Eurasian Collar Doves are currently very common, especially in city aglomerations. This bird, from a family of doves, has an amazing red eye. Unluckily, it can only be seen in the close ups and subdued light. Eurasian Collar Dove is an example of an evasive bird species, which, just a century ago, did not appear in Poland. Now, it is popular enough that everyone treat it as something natural, simply native. Weight of an Eurasian Collared Dove does not exceed 200 grams with a wingspan of around 60 centimeters.
Last minute news – 08/2014 Fuerteventura
There on Fuerteventura in the vicinity of human settlements collared doves were ubiquitous and were not skittish at all. Well, just like in Poland they are an invasive species as well. It is interesting that this bird so easily tolerate our sometimes cold winters and hot weather on Fuerteventura. For sure there will be progress in their expansion. I have added a few pictures.

During the hours of waiting for Grey Partridges, which only appeared for a few minutes and then disappeared, there was plenty of time which was filled by Eurasian Collared Dove, Eurasian tree sparrows and sometimes Eurasian Magpies. Sickles sometimes appeared with a dozen or so individuals. Obviously, the most interesting ones were the dynamic photo shots of the birds that we managed to take. The gallery has been radically revamped and goes into the news.
