In my photographic output I already have five species of coulters, but I do not have the one that I care about most, which belongs to the fauna of Poland. I failed several times trying to photograph it outside Poland. Here in Spain I could see an Eurasian Thick-knee for the first time, but the photos are only documentary. I do not know why our European curlew is so different in behavior, so skittish. All other curlews were photographed during the day, from a distance of a few or a dozen meters. They were motionless, probably thought that they were invisible, what was very helpful for a photographer. In Spain curlews kept a large distance making it impossible to take good photos. The only chance was a small pond, which was the only source of water in the area. Thick-knees are active at night, but at sunset there was a chance that they would appear by the water. Unfortunately, the weather was not good. On this day it was quite chilly and despite several hours of waiting until the dark, no success. Before leaving, I could hear them in the distance and a short recording of their voices was made. Well, I promised myself that I would no longer set up a gallery with documentary content, but for such a difficult species, moreover from the list of Polish fauna, I had to change my mind and initiate a very modest gallery of the Eurasian stone-curlew on my site.

Finally, the documentation gallery of the Eurasian Thick-knee is going away. Finally managed to take better photos of the Eurasian Thick-knee belonging to the fauna of Poland. The only one of the 7 Curlews galleries on my website that had the status of a documentary gallery. Until the meeting of the Eurasian Thick-knee group in Italy. Also this time it was not easy. Any exit from the car caused the birds to fly away. This is probably a consequence of bird hunting. We did a safari and it worked. It was possible to get much closer at a much shorter distance and finally better pictures were created.
