And here's another gallery, which starts with one photo, documentary one in fact. I hope that the picture is clear enough to recognize well the species of terns, as I assume a juvenile. I was sorry but the tern perched on the shore for a moment and flew away forever. The distance and the light left much to be desired so these pictures are much worse than those of sandpipers or ruffs taken in the same place. Tern with its relatively low weight of about 100 gr has an impressive wingspan of about one meter. I hope I will manage to take a satisfactory photo of a tern, and record her voice, as it is besides the seagull, the most noisy bird of our coast, and very characteristic.

I wish such changes as the one that happened to this gallery occurred more often on my website. During one day of photographing I created a full gallery documenting beautiful morning scenes with the Terns in the foreground. More than this, I succeeded in recording their sounds. The males demonstrated their masculine prowess and skill at fishing. When you listen to the recording attentively, you can hear a splash of water. The males nose-dived into water chasing after fish. They fell into water really fast and they usually emerged from water with fish. The females, seated on the breakwater, looked at them attentively. The males were landing on the breakwater with the fish they caught and expected to win the female birds’ favours. Some of them submitted to their charm, appreciating their skill, and fed on the fish. The males who turned down swallowed their prey. They appeared to be very pragmatic in this respect. Welcome to the gallery.

My goal was to photograph black-winged stilts, but as opportunity came, I also managed to take some pictures of the neighbouring flock of sandwich terns. There were a lot of them, but their number surely did not exceed the overcrowded colony of the black-headed gull. Unfortunately because of the distance and the light conditions I didn’t manage to take satisfactory images. It is not yet the 4 star gallery but while taking photos at the Baltic seashore in September I managed to take for now my best photos of the sandwich tern. The gallery has been refreshed.
