Oystercatchers in Poland are accounted into migratory birds. Unfortunately, presented pictures were not taken in Poland but Norway and Scotland. It is very common there, at least enough to take pictures without camouflage and long telephotos. It can be spotted at the seaside, where it penetrates the beach on its red legs, like a Stork, searching for food. When it comes to the size, it is far from Stork's as he only weighs 0.5 kilogram, whereas his wingspan is around 80 centimeters (Stork – 3 kilograms, 2 meters).
Last minute news – 06/2014 Iceland
In this gallery there has been a radical change. There is no sign of the previous design which went away. Because of how numerous and easy to photograph were oystercatchers in Iceland I managed to take a series of images that exceeded former ones, that go to the archive. Amazing how close to roads, sidewalks, or other easily accessible and popular sites oystercatchers build their nests on the ground. Once I saw oystercatchers which brooded just a few meters from the car park and the busy tourist paths leading to waterfalls. Another time oystercatcher brought their offspring along at a distance of several meters from me. However when somebody comes up too close the parents turn into tenacious defenders of their nest. At first they try to distract an intruder from the place where eggs are hatched or young are staying and later pretend to attack swooping down in fight. It was no problem for me to record their voice as well.

On the way to Nordcapp every now and then I could observe oystercatchers. As I managed to take a few dynamic photos of adult specimen of this species, I decided to enrich my previous gallery.
