Birds > Passerine > Fieldfare Turdus pilaris

info

In winter, for a watchful observer of bushes and trees in cities, it is quite easy to photograph, especially in places, where there are some fruit of rowan, for instance, left for the winter. A photo of this bird taken from a close distance can show its whole charm and beauty. Not only do they move into cities during winter, but also occur in flocks. The fieldfare belongs to medium-sized birds. Its body mass is about 100 g, with a wingspan of around 40 cm. I encourage you to feed birds in winter. They will repay you, posing in front of your camera’s lens. It must be remembered, however, that once we start doing this we should continue doing this, at least for the rest of the winter season. Once birds get used to free meals, they quit forging, so if we suddenly stop feeding them, it can have negative consequences for them.

When shooting the young green woodpecker I was able to take photos of the Fieldfare – to complement my gallery.

Zakopane is a real "hub" of the fieldfares. They were there actually in a great number, and the photos added here were taken by the way, without any special effort. The birds were foraging on lawns in city parks, they were so preoccupied with picking insects for their young that their distance from the tourists was only a few meters. I have added a few pictures and the gallery was rebuilt.

A soundtrack with a recording of the voices of Fieldfare has been added to the gallery. The recording was made in a city park and unfortunately this urban background can be heard in the background. The Fieldfare were preoccupied with feeding the young Fieldfare on the lawns and occasionally came close at 2-3 meters. I took many better photos on the day than before and the gallery has been rebuilt.
