I have an insufficiency when it comes to photographing and observing this bird, and especially listening to its singing. It has received its name probably not by chance, and I would prefer to have my own strong opinion about this issue. In its size it resembles the blackbird or the fieldfare, but it’s definitely more difficult to observe, due to a small population of this bird. In the past it was kept in cages for its beautiful voice. I hope that this species, if I only have the opportunity and a little luck, will have its own, decent gallery in the future, and not just documentary photos.

The existing quite small gallery with documentary pictures of thrushes was finally enriched with some new photos. Photos were taken in New Zealand, when I was  shooting welcome swallows at dawn. Within several hundred of meters there was a large shrub where some pairs of thrushes cooped up and this resulted in presented images.

The number of pictures in this gallery is gradually increasing. They are far from satisfactory, but in the case of nature photography, photographs are not taken for marketing and, besides having enough light, patience and equipment one must just be lucky. The gallery of the Song Thrush are still waiting for the accumulation of these factors.

So far I had no good opportunities to take interesting pictures of this bird, I was not lucky. Or bad  light, or too long distance, or not a good background. This time I waited for hawfinches. It was the same place where earlier I took its photos. I had prepared  my observation point before. I wanted to take pictures of hawfinches without a converter, so as to achieve better image quality,  to show unquestionable charm of this bird. Well, beginning from 5:30 to noon I was sitting and watching in a rather windy day. It was not easy, and to make matters worse no one hawfinch appeared. As a kind of consolation I managed to take some pictures of coal tit and a song thrushes. Unfortunately the thrush sat a few meters to the right, in a position hard to photograph because of the location of the lookouts. But the sound was recorded without major problems. Although it was necessary to wait for a moment when the frogs from a nearby pond have a break in their courtship and my recording would not be drowned out by their noise. Finally I took a few photos as well and they enrich the existing gallery.

With the gallery of the Song Thrush, so is the gallery of the Red-breasted flycatcher. It has been waiting for years to make changes and finally take good pictures of this species of bird on my website. Songbirds do occur in my area, but they are very secretive and keep a considerable distance. This time, enough good pictures were taken from the two stationary shelter that the gallery has changed its status and goes to news.
