Alphabetical list

While I was taking photos in a small garden with a little pond in the middle, a friendly owner of the property asked if I would like to photograph a basilisk. A rhetorical question, I thought. The basilisk was sitting still, 2-3 meters over our heads. It was lured to the ground with a cricket, as I suppose. The insect, slowly placed on a path crossing a thicket, invigorated the reptile so that it was down on the ground by its prey within seconds. The light contrasts were too big, but the reptile was incredible. It can reach up to 90 cm in length.

The Plumed Whistling Duck I managed to meet only once. Luckily the whole flock feeding on grass was more preoccupied with my presence than taking flight for their own safety. Thus this one meeting resulted in these images. Plumed whistling ducks watched and listened to the sound of camera shutter so I managed to take pictures for the gallery, moreover, in full 24-fame dimension. It can be  perceived as a little monotonous but I prefer such situation to one-photo gallery.

I have had the pleasure of photographing Koniks (or Polish Primitive Horses) at Karsiborska Kępa in a sanctuary of the Polish Society for the Protection of Birds, administratively situated within Świnoujście. From Spring to Autumn they live freely, aiding the program for endangered birds species. Grazing of Koniks and the natural grass “trimming” is ought to support the growth of the endangered species, including the one of an Aquatic Warbler, which population decreases, despite all the efforts.
