Taking photos of woodpeckers in Argentina I had the impression that there they were more common than in Europe. Even in the park in Buenos Aires I managed to photograph two species of woodpeckers. Some of them are noticeable in the background, against concrete slabs. Unfortunately, I could not take more photos of checkered woodpecker than these you can see here. Its weight is about 30 grams and a wingspan is 15 cm.

Chestnut-banded Plover
Charadriiformes
In Tanzania at Lake Natron it was not possible to meet it, fortunately in Botswana there were two encounters of this very scarce, rare plover. The first encounter was on desert terrain in the Kalahari, unfortunately it was a few minutes after sunset, quite a distance and only documentary photos were taken. Fortunately, the following day we photographed in the "Nata bird sanctuary" where in total we probably saw about a dozen birds. Sometimes several could be counted in front of the lens in one place. Chestnut-Bellied Euphonia
Passerine
The pictures were taken in the vicinity of Iguasu waterfalls. Regrettably all of them are from just one encounter with this bird. The chestnut-bellied euphonia occurs in Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay. An euphonia weighs about 16 grams. Dobre |

Chestnut-bellied Sandgrouse
Sandgrouse
There are many reasons to be satisfied after my returning from Tanzania. One of them are new galleries of sandgrouses. I remember how hard it was to photograph my first sandgrouses in Fuerteventura or Pallas's Sandgrouse in Mongolia, then taking photos of those birds in Tanzania was a piece of cake. Well, maybe not just like that, because you have to find them, but when driving all day, watching closely it is possible as you can see. It did not happen too often, but only when the birds were found they made an easy object for us to photograph at least for a moment. Bardzo dobre |
