One meeting with the Shoveler in Iceland initiates the gallery of this species on my website. On a pond where we could take photos, except shovelers there were  eiders and redshanks. Northern shoveler reach a weight of 850 grams and the wingspan is about 85 cm. Glad that I finally have the first images of this species. Finally, it just wouldn't seem right without a bird with such a specific beak and colorful plumage. Shoveler population in Iceland is estimated to be 20 to 50 couples (2014), and for me it was the first encounter with this species. First, and what is more important fruitful so that I can present this bird in many scenes, also dynamic.

Eventually, after several years, I had my second encounter with northern shovelers. This time it was better prepared and aimed to enhance the gallery. Unfortunately, the shovelers kept their distance, but nevertheless, I managed to take some better pictures than before while they occasionally swam near me.  The gallery has been remodeled.
