During my stay in Iceland I had the pleasure to photograph the European golden plover several times. Sometimes I started looking for this bird when I heard the doleful, single plover’s call. However the sound informed that the bird is out there somewhere, but finding it was not so easy. When I moved in the direction of the voice very slowly, the plover did not take its wings off  suddenly, as do pheasants to disappear in the distance, but began to walk away slowly, to increase the distance to be safe enough for it. One morning I came across the plover which apparently wanted to be photographed at all costs, instead of the whimbrel which I followed. The plover could not have the nest nearby, as I was walking about along quite busy road, where cars go from time to time. The Eurasian curlew was walking slowly across the meadow along the road so that I could follow it. The plover all the time kept behind me about 10 meters. I was glancing at now and then and frankly speaking I did not know who was actually watched and who was watching this morning. Golden plovers wingspan is about 75 cm and its weigh is about 300 grams. I photographed it always as a single, I never happened to me to see them two at once.
