Northern Pintail
Anseriformes
Because of chronic lack of leisure time, despite I had been informed that a northern pintail was seen in Poland in winter periods, it never appeared in front of my camera lens. And finally a nice surprise happened to me while visiting Hel Peninsula in March 16 '- first images of the northern pintail were taken. I hope that more opportunities for a change in this gallery will come in winter, because during their passage and migration better pictures can be taken. Dobre |
Northern Potoo
Caprimulgiformes
It is impressive and shocking at its size. It is most associated with nightjars, but these are up to 100 grams. Northern potoo weighs less than 300 grams. The silhouette froze this one, but sitting in the sun all day is amazing (over 30 C). Fortunately, clouds appeared on that day and less contrasting photos were taken. Potoo practically did not move, any attempt to approach him could have resulted in his departure, I stopped at this commemorative photo. Dobre |

Northern shoveler
Anseriformes
One meeting with the Shoveler in Iceland initiates the gallery of this species on my website. On a pond where we could take photos, except shovelers there were eiders and redshanks. Northern shoveler reach a weight of 850 grams and the wingspan is about 85 cm. Glad that I finally have the first images of this species. Finally, it just wouldn't seem right without a bird with such a specific beak and colorful plumage. Shoveler population in Iceland is estimated to be 20 to 50 couples (2014), and for me it was the first encounter with this species. Dobre |

Northern Wheatear
Passerine
A small bird was running around the wavebreakers in Hel and Jastarnia after the Common Shelducks. Its plumage differed from that of the birds I had photographed so far. I quickly identified the bird. I was taking photos of the Northern Weatears. It weighs up to 25 grams and its wingspan is 30 cm. Unfortunately, not unlike the Common Sandpipes, they always kept significant distance, even though I remained calm and was really patient. I returned to the spot three times. The distance was so large that the photos presented here had to be framed. Bardzo dobre |
