Yet again, the name of the woodpecker corresponds with its size. The weight of the middle spotted woodpecker is about 70 g, with a wingspan of approximately 35 centimeters. It is indeed just a little smaller than the great spotted woodpecker, and these two species are, at least at first glance, difficult to tell apart, at least by their back. The most visible difference can be noticed on their bellies. The great woodpecker’s belly is white, and the middle woodpecker’s belly is covered with oblong stripes, passing from pink to red on the tail.

Mistle Thrush
Passerine
The first pictures of the mistle thrush, initiating this gallery, were taken in March while I was awaiting common cranes. Unfortunately neither the light, nor the mistle thrush were in abundance. Poor lighting on that frosty March morning and definitely too long a distance between me and the mistle thrush, didn’t allow me to take satisfactory photos. The mistle thrush is a medium-sized bird with a wingspan of up to 50 centimeters and a weight not exceeding 100 grams. Bardzo dobre |

Monarch butterfly
Insect / Crustacean
For the first time insect species is described in my gallery. There is a reason to do it. Unique species requires special treatment. The monarch is a species of butterfly that migrates similarly to birds. Its migrations are thousands of kilometers. It is amazing that the whole travel cycle of the butterfly is really several insect generations. None of them is able to fly the entire distance. They can fly over the ocean. In the Canary Islands and in Europe they occur naturally. Bardzo dobre |
