This commentary is a follow-up to the text about the Red-throated Loon of which I took more pictures than of the Red-throated Loon. It is a pity, because I like the couple of this species I came across a lot more than the Red-throated Loon. They are really beautiful and perfectly set in the context of the Scandinavian landscape. Unfortunately, the lake around which I was taking photos belonged to the mid-sized, if not to the large ones. The birds were swimming away and away and their contours were becoming less and less sharp until photographing them was pointless.

Being in Iguazú, even if you are not particularly interested in bird beauties, you should visit a place, which is unique on a global scale. Every taxi driver knows this place in  Iguazú and for a few dollars will take you to an amazing hummingbird garden. An admission ticket costs really little. The place itself is very plain. For many years, on a small area of a backgarden, its owner has been hanging water fountains for hummingbirds around.

The scenario with black-winged kites is always the same. The bird is quite easy to photograph, but in the position in which it freezes in the air looking for prey. Well, maybe the distance could have been smaller but also this time the black-winged kite appeared in front of the lens. It would freeze above rice fields a little before the sunset and that’s how the pictures presented here were taken. Black-winged kites are relatively small predators of the Accipitridae family. They have a wingspan of up to 80 cm and their weight reaches 240 grams.

So far I managed to photograph four species of lapwings during my travels - in Poland, in Australia, in Thailand and in Argentina. Whereas, only one trip to South Africa was enough for watching  and taking pictures of the blacksmith lapwing, the black-winged lapwing and the wattled lapwing, three new species of lapwings. It is a pity that not all pictures are good. Only the blacksmith lapwing was not skittish and I was able to take enough photos for a full, interesting gallery.
