I had to go to New Zealand to shoot the Dunnock, which is not common species in Poland, but occurs there and it is possible to photograph it. In Poland I failed so far, only a few images taken in New Zealand made the gallery of this bird start up. It is slightly smaller than a sparrow, its weight is about 20 grams, with a wingspan of a little more than 22 centimeters. It was re-introduced into New Zealand in 1860. I was able to take its photos during a morning photo session of the Weka.

The eared Pygmy-tyrant is a „bird fingerling”. It is tiny and I’m happy that regardless of the fact that there was only one encounter I managed to take some interesting pictures. It let me approach it so close that I managed to take the photos presented here. I was also lucky to be able to set the focus. Numerous leaves and twigs made this task much more difficult, but although the bird would jump from one twig onto another, it behaved peacefully. Considering its size, the bird should be presented in the macro gallery. Dobre |
