The passage is common to these two species of flamingos photographed in Tanzania - the greater flamingo and the lesser flamingo. These birds were almost always photographed together. To watch thousands of flamingos we went to Lake Natron in northern Tanzania. This is where the majority of the lesser flamingo population lives and reproduces. The lake itself is quite an extraordinary saltwater reservoir. After heavy downpours at rainy season the lake can reach 850 km² with the average depth of several dozen centimeters.

Lesser Kestrel

Lesser Kestrel Seeing on the outskirts of the city or over the largest lawns, a medium sized bird, which brooded in the air searching for food, you can be almost certain it is a Common of Lesser Kestrel. Despite the colour and the size differences Great Grey Shrikes also act the same. For a predator, Lesser Kestrel is quite small, it weighs around 200 grams with a wingspan of around 70 centimeters. That is why its menu consists of insects, small rodents and birds like Sparrows or Tits. Bardzo dobre |

Lesser Sand-Plover
Charadriiformes
In the environment depicted in the description of the spoon-billed sandpiper there were thousands of birds which would fly in enormous flocks of hundreds of specimens between shallow water reservoirs. The same was with great knots, Eurasian curlews and the three species of plovers. Sometimes there were so many of them that it was hard to choose what to photograph. The birds, sitting peacefully on dams, often cut the distance to us significantly. Dobre |
Lesser Spotted Eagle
Accipitriformes
I’ve seen many beautiful pictures of this Bird, but only on other people’s websites. In Poland it is not found among the rare species of birds. Unfortunately, our path have never crossed yet since I saw him in Bosporus, Turkey. Apparently, in a popular spot, where birds are counted in Bosporus, the day counting record was a several thousand birds, including Lesser Spotted Eagle. That is why several photos documenting this bird initiate the gallery of this bird on my website. Soon, hopefully, they will be replaced by better-quality photos of this beautiful predator. Lesser Spotted Woodpecker
Piciformes
The name of this bird probably corresponds with the size of it. The lesser woodpecker is a little bird, with a weight of up to 25 g, and a wingspan of 30 cm. For the sake of comparison, the great woodpecker can weigh almost four times as much. From my own observation I can say that it is much scarcer than other woodpeckers, especially the great one. In fact, from a certain distance, it is difficult to differentiate between the great, the middle, and the lesser woodpecker. Dostateczne |
