Lesser Spotted Woodpecker
Piciformes

The name of this bird probably corresponds with the size of it. The lesser woodpecker is a little bird, with a weight of up to 25 g, and a wingspan of 30 cm. For the sake of comparison, the great woodpecker can weigh almost four times as much. From my own observation I can say that it is much scarcer than other woodpeckers, especially the great one. In fact, from a certain distance, it is difficult to differentiate between the great, the middle, and the lesser woodpecker.

Lesser Striped-Swallow
Passerine

Well, swallows are a difficult object to photograph, not to mention the pictures of these birds in flight. So far on my site seven species of swallows have their galleries and none of them is rated as 4-star. After returning from South Africa I counted 4 new species and, interestingly, I was able to record the voice of a greater striped-swallow.

Lesser Whitethroat
Passerine

The story of Lesser Whitethroat’s gallery resembles that of the Eurasian Wigeon. I took a few pictures of Whitethroats when I was taking photos of the Northern Wheatear. The Lesser Whitethroat was to the right in the bushes, the Northern Wheatear on the wavebreakers to the left. It is difficult to be satisfied with the starting gallery of this quality. But this is just a beginning. The Lesser Whitethroat is a delicate bird. Its weight is up to a dozen gram and its wingspan is about 18 cm.

Lewin's Honeyeater
Passerine

The next representative of family honeyeaters captured in Australia. The Lewin’s Honeyeater is slightly bigger than the Sparrow, it grows up to about 20 centimetres. It is a pity but it is a rare bid indeed. I managed to take only few photos from one position.
