I was able to take pictures of the Razorbill on a steep cliff, where they lived in colonies (Iceland). Approaching the edge of the cliff (tens of meters) I could see the birds on small rock ledges. They look like penguins and it is hard to believe that they can fly. Its weight is less than a kilogram, with a wingspan of about 65 cm. Recording of the voice was much more difficult because selecting the sound of the razorbill form all the voices of the colonies, where also guillemots, thick-billed murres and black-legged kittiwake nested,  at least for me was impossible. However, the recordings of the avian colony’s sounds reflect the atmosphere and complement the images. This recording is common for razorbills and guillemots.
Last minute news 06/2015
During the cruise to bird colonies I photographed mainly razorbills. I had some photos from my first encounter with these birds, but they were taken in poor light. This time the pictures although taken from a certain distance, were so many that I restructured the previous gallery.
Last minute news -06/2018 Iceland
This time I took the time to take dynamic pictures of razorbills. The birds returned to the colony, often with food for the young in their beaks. In my opinion dynamic pictures, even though sometimes a little out of focus, are more interesting than static shots. After all, the ability to fly is what we admire birds for...
