info

The presented photos of reindeers were taken during my stay in Norway. They were standing on the road by the lake, paying no attention to the fact that they were photographed. They fled only when they realized I was approaching them. Somewhat similar situation when it comes to does’ behavior, except that even though roe deers are smaller than reindeer, they won’t allow you to approach them too closely.
Last minute news 06/2014 – Iceland
There is a little wild reindeer population in Iceland. Originally they were artificially brought to Iceland, then released and left to fend for themselves. As there is no predator in Iceland that could threaten its existence and there are favorable environmental conditions, the reindeer are doing well, which can be seen in the enclosed photos. Their impressing antlers are so showy that I couldn’t fail to expand my previous modest gallery of this mammal, which had earlier consisted solely of  pictures taken in Norway.

I did not have any problems with encountering reindeer on my way to Nordcapp. There were quite a lot of them. They would wander in small herds, often stepping onto roads and causing obstructions to oncoming traffic. The only disadvantage during this shooting session was the fact that the reindeer carried pink markings made by their breeders, which looked unnatural in the harsh Arctic landscape. I have restructured the gallery.
