The western jackdaw is, next to the rook and the sparrow, another urban bird, which can be very easily photographed. From a certain distance, the jackdaw is seen as a black, perhaps dull bird. Everything changes when you reduce shooting distance or increase focal length. The jackdaw’s eye is amazing. The white iris makes this bird look „serious” and dignified. Their wing covers are dark-blue, the neck is almost grey, and the belly is graphite-grey. Such details can be observed only when you shorten the distance and use properly subdued light (see my notes for the rook). The jackdaw belongs to medium-sized birds. It has a wingspan of less than 70 cm, and a weight of less than 250 g. We can enjoy watching it all year round, as it doesn’t migrate for winter.

The Eurasian Jackdaws in Istanbul, alongside the Hooded Crow, are found ubiquitously. On the historic bridge, apart from the crowded spaces, and rarely attended by tourists, there were their nesting sites. Many interesting photos were taken from a short distance. They embellish the collection that has been present on my website so far. The gallery has been drastically altered.

The Western Jackdaw gallery, like the rook and the gray crow, has been rebuilt. The circumstances in which the photos were taken are presented in the information at these galleries. Unfortunately, there were the fewest jackdaws and only a few photos were taken, but they add variety to the gallery. On that day, we managed to improve several galleries, including the unexpectedly sparrowhawk and the feral pigeon, added a photo of the tawny owl and, of course, mandarin ducks, which are the best points park’s of Łazienki.
