It is slightly smaller than a White Wagtail as its weight is dozen or so grams with a wingspan of a less than 30 centimeters. Unfortunately, it is much harder to spot it and even harder to approach it at a satisfying distance. I guess, I took the prettiest picture of a Yellow Wagtail while photographing Black Stork, therefore being hidden, approximately 10 meters from it. It can be often spotted searching for food on the fields, meadows and pastures.
Last minute news 08/2013
When I was shooting snipes or wood sandpipers and was lying in wait for spotted crakes and water spiders there was such a large number of yellow wagtails, adults and flappers that exceeded all expectations. Young wagtails were so careless and active when searching food that one of them went under my telephoto lens. So I was camouflaged so well that you might say I could stroke the birds. I have so many photos that I decided to rebuild the gallery of yellow wagtails and add it to the “news” page.
Last minutes news – 05-2014
I added a few pictures, which were taken on a breakwater in Hel.
Last minute news – 08/2014
Oh, yellow and white wagtails were several in sight while I was waiting for common sandpipers, wood sandpipers, sedge warblers, and who knows what else might occur. They came so close that it was impossible for my autofocus to sharpen. The most interesting shot of the Yellow Wagtail I managed to take while it was trying to chase the Young Greenfinch out from the bank of the lake. Wagtail in the role of aggressor, there is what sounds pretty ridiculous, but you can see for yourself...
Last minute news – 07/2015
When I was waiting to record the sound of the common quail, I took a few great  pictures of the western yellow wagtail. The gallery was reconstructed.
Last minute news  04/2016
I have added a sound recording of the yellow wagtail’s voice. It was singing in rape at flowering – see a photo in attachment.
